My little girl had a mild case of cradle cap. It would build up across her eye brows and between her eyes and her scalp.
Cradle cap is thought to be caused by excessive oil production around hair follicles. It’s very common and not harmful in most cases. Just avoid picking at it as that can cause irritation and as a result infection.
I tried cleaning and applying lotions and just time but I hated how dirty it made my baby look. And lotions made the skin on her face break out. So I decided to try one more thing.
I gave her a bath and used a baby brush to massage her head and provide some light exfoliation to her scalp. Then after her bath I used coconut oil as a moisturizer for her face and scalp. I did this twice a week and applied more oil when necessary between baths. In under two weeks it was all completely gone!
Sometimes I’ll see a patch that looks like it might be starting to come back. I just apply a little dab of coconut oil and voila all gone.
I should have known to try this miracle oil beforehand because I use it on myself for various things all the time. But sleep deprivation makes you forget and makes small problems more difficult to solve.
So if your baby is having problems with cradle cap maybe give coconut oil a try!
